Exploring Innovative Theories and Practices for Technological, Cultural, and Societal Advancement
The challenges of the fast-growing technology-driven society have its demand for academic institutions to share the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences using their most updated pedagogical tools through the field of research. Hence, our school commits to provide an opportunity for the academic institutions of the country to have scholarly discussions and exchange of ideas bringing about educational transformation and technological advancement that will create a positive impact, globally. This three-day conference will provide an avenue for the educators and stakeholders to continuously showcase their research works and innovations in their fields of expertise especially on Technology, Culture, and Society. This will also lead to international collaborations and partnerships for appropriate application and utilization of technologies.

     The Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) in Naga City, Philippines will be spearheading the 2020 International Research Conference on Technology, Culture and Society (IRConTeCS)December 9-11, 2020 focusing on the theme: “Exploring innovative theories and practices for technological, cultural, and societal advancement” via Zoom.

This three-day conference will provide an avenue for the educators and stakeholders to continuously showcase their research works and innovations in their fields of expertise especially on Technology, Culture, and Society. This will also lead to international collaborations and partnerships for appropriate application and utilization of technologies.

Objectives

1. Provide a proper venue for intellectual discussion of research findings related to continuous advancement in technology, engineering, culture and society

2. Strengthen the capacity of the researchers to communicate relevant findings to the academic and industrial community.

3. Create a community of scholars who can collaborate with other participants to come up with future research projects.

Scope

The Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology invites the students, faculty, and industry researchers from different international institutions to submit their original research papers for oral presentation in the of Technology, Engineering, Society, and Culture

Digital Platform using Zoom shall be used during the conference. Access will be given to the registered participants.  Pre-recorded video presentations will be played, and questions, and other queries shall be entertained after the presentation

Abstract Submission 

Abstracts within 200-250 words should be submitted to ircontecs@biscast.edu.ph and must contain the following sections: Title of the article, Name of the Authors (All Capital Letters for the name of the Presenter and Normal Case letters for the co-author), Affiliation, email address, objectives of the study, methodology, significant findings, implication of the findings to technological, cultural, and societal advancement, intended communities and discipline, and keywords (3 to 7-alphabetically arranged). These should be typed single-spaced, Times New Roman with font size of 12 pts. An email will also be sent upon acceptance or non-acceptance of the paper for presentation.

Full Paper Submission 

1. The final paper should follow the prescribed template of the journal with the following sections: Title of the Paper, Name of the Authors, Affiliation, email address, keywords (at least 3), Introduction, Materials and Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion and Recommendation, Acknowledgement (if any) and References. (Please find attached paper template). 

2. Final Papers should be submitted electronically in MS Word following the Paper Template to the Committee via email ircontecs@biscast.edu.ph. Deadline for submission of full papers will be on November 20, 2020

3. An acknowledgement email will be sent to the presenting author upon receipt of the final paper. 

4. All submitted full papers will be evaluated for the selection of best conference papers based on the following criteria: 

Criteria Percentage  |  Academic Significance 25%, Contribution to the Community 25%, Technical Novelty 20%, Quality of Information 25%, Language Usage 5%

 

5. The final paper is also necessary for submission if the research article is intended for publication to ASEAN Citation Index Journals. Submitted papers will be reviewed for adherence to established rules, scientific content and presentation by the Screening Committee. Original Papers not yet published or currently under consideration for publication elsewhere can be submitted for publication.             

Oral Research Presentation Guidelines

  1. Research papers for the parallel sessions will be of 10 minutes duration of recorded video and must be submitted to the committee through Google Drive on or before October 20, 2020.
  2. The presentation must have a video dimension of 1280 x 720 (720p) using .mp4 format.
  3. The research presenter must be present during the Academic Exchange after all videos had been presented.

  5. Video: adequate lighting
  6. This is the set of criteria for the Selection of Best Research Presenter.

Infographic Research Presentation

  1. Infographic is another way of communicating information or research findings to different people through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to reach wider audience.
  2. Qualities of Effective infographics: takes no more than 30-40 seconds to read, presents data accurately and ethically, reference sources with citations, tells a story in a simple and creative fashion.
  3. The infographics must include the title of the research, name of authors, affiliation, Significant findings through visual and textual presentation and references (if any).
  4. Size of the infographic must be 1788×2682 pixel at 72dpi using .png format.
  5. Respect for cultural diversity.
  6. This is the set of criteria for the selection of Best Infographic Research Presentation
